The Qualifying Criteria For the SIA Door Supervisor Licence Changes From June 2010.

Are you a SIA licensed Door Supervisor? Does your licence expire in 2010? If you answer yes to either of these questions then the imminent changes the SIA are introducing will affect you and your licence. If you do not read this page and act soon your qualification could become invalid and you could no longer renew your licence and legally work.

Licensing criteria is changing from June 2010. From this point forward all new and renewal licensees will need to be qualified in a new module “Escorting and Disengagement” (otherwise known as “Physical Intervention”).

Why Have The Requirements Changed?

Unfortunately recent years have shown the shortage of SIA approved and monitored Physical Intervention Training and Qualification has left employers, staff, customers and the public at serious risk of harm and prosecution. The SIA have recognised this trend, and introduced the requirement for a licensed programme for Physical Intervention skills in the private security industry. GSS SIA recognised, City & Guilds approved programme ensures organisations, staff and customers benefit from a licensed and recognised Physical Intervention Training Programme for Door Supervision and alternative SIA linked licenses.

Following the ever growing risk of harm and prosecution, and at the request of the private security Industry, the SIA have changed the requirements for Training and Licensing Door Supervisors to reflect more up to date and relevant working practices. The new changes for Door Supervisors will now include additional training in Physical Intervention Skills. The new module is referred to as Escorting and Disengagement Skills.

Further changes incorporated into the new award will cover more first aid content, awareness of terrorist threats and specific responsibilities for dealing with 14-18 year olds.

What Impact Will This Have On You or Your Organisation?

Door Supervisors

From June 2010 individuals who wish to become licensed door supervisors will require certification in the new SIA Physical Intervention module*.

*Individuals who have a current SIA approved qualification and have not yet applied for a licence can use their qualification as long as it was awarded less than three years ago. Door supervisor licence renewals following the changes will may require certification in the new SIA Physical Intervention module, we will advise you once the SIA determine the criteria.

Training Providers

In order to deliver door supervision training or the stand alone physical intervention module trainers will also need a licence and certificate in “Delivering Physical Intervention Training.

How We Will Help You!

Luckily you have come to the right place to ensure you know exactly what to do to prepare for these changes. You must make certain your licence application is not refused or delayed in anyway. If you don’t you could be without a licence and unable to work, all because you haven’t received the required qualification before your application. We have teamed up with the biggest name in training in the UK; City & Guilds to bring you only the most profound training packages in the UK. If you want to learn about GSS SIA recognised physical intervention training courses click the image to the left or click here now.

What The SIA Say About The Door Supervisor Licence Changes

Door Supervision training is changing to reflect more up to date and relevant working practices. Additional training requirements for door supervisors will include physical intervention skills, first aid awareness, dealing with 14-18 year olds and awareness of terrorist threats. Click here to view the SIA press release.

The SIA are Changing the Competency Specifications

(This means changes to the training and qualifications needed for an SIA Door Supervisor Licence.

The changes are largely at the request of, and incorporate extensive input from, the private security industry. The result will be training that is industry-led and that contains relevant content developed with those working in licensable sectors.

The SIA are also introducing a modular structure to the qualifications, meaning less overlap and duplication in training content across the sectors; it also makes it easier to gain qualifications for additional sectors, as just the relevant additional modules need to be taken to acquire desired licence.

At the moment, individuals who already have an SIA licence will not be required to do additional training to renew their licence. Those who have a current SIA approved qualification and have not yet applied for a licence can use their qualification as long as it was awarded less than three years ago. These SIA will release updates on the requirements for renewals shortly.

Our Training Programmes Actually Work!

I am sure you have attended cleverly sold courses and training before. Only to find their marketing was a lot more substantial than their course content and training expertise. We often get learners on our courses who unfortunately made this mistake. They have tried other training companies based on promises of this and that, only to leave feeling they haven’t really learned any skills or knowledge they can use in the workplace.

We pride ourselves on over delivering in our training programmes, offering over and above what is required every single time. We want you to actually use our material and the skills we teach effectively and confidently in your line of work. You will find real value in attending our training courses. Our training works, and it works beautifully. Our feedback shows it, and our customers, organistations and trainers cherish it.

Our recognition as Master Trainers guarantees our training package and customer service is the best in the UK. With our Master Trainer status you have the confidence we offer only the best physical intervention training available.

Master trainer accreditation was created to ensure door supervisors, trainers and the security industry receive the highest quality physical intervention training. The kind of training required to ensure professional, effective and safe delivery of physical intervention skills and techniques in the workplace.

Our Integrity

Our integrity as a company and as trainers is held in the highest regard. If we create a training programme in which we have no belief in, deliberately knowing that the people we teach will find little value in its content and effectiveness, then we are harming you, the industry and ourselves, and should question what we are doing.

That is why we over deliver in every area. We give everything possible, pouring our heart and soul in to our service and training materials for the benefit of others. Our integrity shines through in everything we do, from your first contact to our continued and unparalleled support.

As Master Trainers our integrity has been confirmed by City & Guilds. Ensure you, your company and your customers get only the best the industry has to offer.
