SIA Licence Renewal – How To!
How To Renew Your SIA Licence
If you already hold an SIA licence you will need to apply for a new one before your current one expires. Don’t delay your SIA Licence renewal by waiting until after your current one expires: you need a valid licence to work legally and there’s no grace period between licences.
There are many general questions you are probably asking yourself right now, luckily we have created a frequently asked questions page covering all the most commonly asked questions on renewing your SIA licence.
Please take your time to read all the questions and answers (click the FAQ button to the left). If your question is not answered please use the “ask us a question” feature at the bottom of the FAQ page, we are always glad to help.
When To Renew Your SIA Licence
SIA will accept licence renewals up to four months in advance of when your current licence expires. If your application for renewal is successful and is processed before your existing licence expires, you will not be disadvantaged as the new licence will expire three years after your current licence expires.
If you submit your application earlier than this it will be treated as a new application. If the application is successful your new licence will expire three years from when it is granted. It will not be extended by the time remaining on your current licence.
How Much Does The Renewal Cost
A licence renewal costs the same as a new application (£245) and requires the same form. GSS provide an excellent licence checking service that ensures your licence application is correct and prevent any delays of refusals. Call 0871 7897680 to Learn More.
How Do I Get An Application Form
There are two ways to request an application form:
- By calling the SIA hotline on 0844 892 1025 (lines open 8am until 8pm Mon-Fri)
- Through the SIA website
Please note that no additional training or qualification is required for this round of renewals. The Home Office is currently considering a proposal that door supervisors take top-up training when renewing their licence. However, this has not yet been approved and, if it is, will not be a requirement until May 2011 at the earliest.
